The Secrets of Leading InterPlay is a multi-day workshop and the first component of the InterPlay Leader Training Program, which leads to becoming a certified InterPlay leader. It is open to those who have completed or are close to completing the InterPlay Life Practice Program. In order to attend Secrets of Leading, you must enroll in the Leader Training Program at the same time you register for this event. (See below.)


The Secrets of Leading provides an overview of the InterPlay system and covers the underlying structure and philosophy of InterPlay:


~How the forms are taught. How they work together.
~What is the ultimate outcome or effect of using InterPlay forms
~How to decide which forms to use at what times..
~How to deal with people you find challenging.
~How racial equity and transformation is being integrated into leader training


The workshop includes presentation, interaction, and play.

Thursday, Friday, Saturday:
12:00 pm – 5:45 pm ET (9 am - 2:45 pm PT)
Sunday: 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm ET (9 am - Noon PT)


Attendance
The Secrets of Leading is an integral part of the InterPlay Leader Training Program. We ask that participants commit to attending all sessions of this four-day event. Should an unexpected life event prevent full attendance, participants will be expected to listen to recordings of the sessions missed.

Financial considerations need not be a barrier to your participation. Financial support and flexible payment plans are available. Enrollment/Tuition
Tuition for the InterPlay Leader Training Program is $1600. A $100 deposit is required to enroll in the Program, in addition to the $400 for the Secrets of Leading. Another $400 payment will be due when you register for a Teaching Practicum, at which time a payment plan for the remaining $700 balance will need to be set up with the Body Wisdom office. (Automatic monthly payments can be set up by credit card through the Body Wisdom office or you can arrange that automatic checks be sent by your bank.)

Continuing Education Credit
Up to 15 CE credits for various healthcare and allied healthcare professions are available for those practicing throughout the U.S. and for educators only practicing in Illinois. CE pre-registration is required before the start of your event. Email Jori Martinez directly at Jori.InterPlay.LTP@gmail.com (not the office) to APPLY for CEUs. There is a charge of $25 per program. CEUs are offered through Continuing Education Institute of Illinois.

Jennifer Denning, MSW
Jennifer is keenly interested in using the InterPlay forms to promote racial justice and healing and has collaborated in developing and leading the workshops “Sankofa Communities” and “Using Body Wisdom to Build Just Communities.” She directs InterPlay Atlanta's performance group, Soulprint Players. She launched InterPlay Atlanta’s programming with women in prison and has taught regularly at Trinity House and The Friendship Center. Jennifer has also worked as a professional actor and taught and directed with Synchronicity Theatre’s “Playmaking For Girls” program for over fifteen years. Her work has long centered on the intersection of creativity, spirituality and social justice. Jennifer currently works as a financial social worker, using financial education as one tool to advance economic equity. She delights in weaving deep breaths, InterPlay storytelling forms, and body awareness into her workshops. Jennifer is a former co-president of the Body Wisdom Board of Directors and a founding member of InterPlay's Racial Equity and Transformation committee.
Jori Martinez
In 2006, Jori Martinez-Woods found her InterPlay Community! Jori recently joined the InterPlay Staff as Leader Education Coordinator. She has shared InterPlay in educational settings and weekly body-spirit celebrations and has led playgroups ever since. She has been a Certified InterPlay Leader since 2007! She served on the National Board of Body Wisdom in the early board days, as Vice President alongside Sheila Collins and as a member of the Friendraising Committee. Jori received her Master of Education in '88 from Harvard Graduate School of Education in Teaching, Curriculum and Learning Environments. She recently moved to Oakland and currently is the Montessori Trainer & Coach for Oakland Montessori Training Institute at Urban Montessori. She has been a Montessorian for over 30 years and a Certified Montessori Guide for ages 6-12. Jori has a passion for Introducing InterPlay to educators and is committed to building and crafting this work with other inspired InterPlayers. She has lived and studied in Japan, England, Spain and has accompanied Masankho Banda to his home in Malawi. Jori has been an avid supporter of our Race Dance work and has lead many workshops on the subject. She is a Forest Therapy Guide and specialized in activities that bring us to our deepest knowing of ourselves. She loves to dance, bead and build community!!
Carolyn Renée
Carolyn Renée Morris (she/her) is a teaching and healing artist with more than a decade of service/experience in the creative and healing arts. She’s the former executive director of the ArtsXchange, a 37-year-old art and social change organization, and Alternate ROOTS, a 44-year-old social justice organization lifting up art as activism in the Southeast USA. Carolyn Renée is committed to the pursuit of art and social justice, health, and well-being for BIPOC on the frontlines of advancing justice. She is a certified InterPlay Leader and in 2008 became a health and wellness practitioner to heal herself from an illness which led to combining the healing and creative arts. With InterPlay, she creates Sacred Space for BIPOC and partners with USA/Ghana-based A Life of Peace Wellness Education Institute to ensure every home has an engaged artist/healer. She goes by “Carolyn Renée.”
