Movement as Prayer

Raleigh, NC
Friday, September 30 • 9:30am–12:30pm
In need of refreshment for body and soul?
Join us to joyfully experience the sacredness of the body at prayer. There are many ways to pray! Movement is a language of the soul that can express deep longings of the heart without words. Come and discover the wisdom of the body in movement as prayer through practices and ideas from InterPlay.
Integrating body, mind and spirit, we'll honor the sacredness of the human body. Experience movement as meditation and learn to "dance on behalf of" as a form of intercessory prayer.
Led by Phil Porter, one of the founders of InterPlay. He is a teacher, performer, writer, and minister. He is the director of WING IT! Performance Ensemble, and has written several books, some in collaboration with Cynthia Winton-Henry, including Having It All: Body, Mind, Heart & Spirit Together Again at Last and The Slightly Mad Rantings of a Body Intellectual Part One. Phil is Minister of Art & Communication at First Congregational Church of Berkeley, United Church of Christ, and has been playing around in the intersection of theology and art for over 35 years.
