Jane Siarny

Certified InterPlay Leader Jane Siarny (M.F.A.) delights in helping people access the joy and peace that comes from movement and creative play. She is a trainer in the InterPlay Life Practice & InterPlay Leadership Programs and performs, teaches and creates community events for all ages and levels of ability. Jane discovered InterPlay when injuries had limited her dance abilities and she was looking for a new way to move from the ‘inside out.’ In the process she would also discover her voice and stories leading to the co-creation of OUTABOUNDS Performance Company. She lives in a western suburb of Chicago with her husband and 14 year old son. InterPlay keeps their family life playful and FUN! Jane’s story can be found in What the Body Wants by InterPlay’s creators Cynthia Winton-Henry and Phil Porter.

Gay Guard-Chamberlin

InterPlay is a homecoming to myself and my natural community. Introduced in 1992 while obtaining my Masters of InterDisciplinary Arts from Columbia College Chicago. Started weekly playing with Jane Siarny in Chicago 1999, completed Leadership Training Program 2002. Moved to Kalamazoo MI and found people to play with. Co-led two Life Practice Programs with Linda Schlabach-Miller of Goshen, IN and co-founded the Midwest "InterPlay Exchange Program" with players from the two states getting together several times a year for a day of play and to practice and participate in yearly "Mstery in the Moment" performances. Helped coordinate "Side-by-Side Untensive/Secrets One Retreats" in Kalamazoo with Cynthia & Phil 2008. Moved back to Chicago July 2011. I am very interested in introducing our tools and practices to bodyspirits living with, and healing from, chronic illness, stress and dis-ease. Getting involved in InterPlay came at a crucial time in my life shortly before I became debilitated from illness and I credit InterPlay for my recovery then -- and now. Worked with hospice staff and volunteers at their facilities, at two weekend grief retreats, and ongoing grief support groups. Also use InterPlay as a visual artist and writer. In hospice work and most community classes, I've collaborated with my musician/husband Doug Chamberlin. His mprovised environmental soundscapes enrich and enchant classes and workshops. At home we use InterPlay forms as part of our own spiritual practices. I am also currently interested in working with the Jewish community and continuing to use InterPlay as a community-building practice with organizations.
