Cultures of Peace Workshop
Building a culture of peace through song, dance and storytelling!
Friday, Oct 26th 7-9pm; Saturday, Oct 27th 9:30 am to noon; 1:30 to 5:30 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. (Performance Oct. 27th 7 pm featuring those who have participated in full workshop.)
University Congregational United Church of Christ and InterPlay Seattle welcome Malawian InterPlayer, Masankho Banda, Friday evening October 26th & Saturday, October 27th for The Cultures of Peace Workshop and performance that celebrates that multiple ways, truths, people and art forms can interplay to create a new thing, a culture of peace, a place where ordinary people are testaments to the possibilities of a multicultural, inter-generational, multi - faith world. Passionate, funny, honest, everyday people learn to create music, song, dance and story all on the spot using the practice of InterPlay's easy-to-learn improvisational forms of dance, music and story-telling that give performers and audiences access to their full range of experience and expression. The results will lift spirits!
Cost: $100 for full event, Friday or Saturday evening only $25; Saturday only $90

Masankho is a multi - disciplinary Performing Artist, Certified InterPlay Leader, Educator and PeaceBuilder. He brings many unique perspectives to his work around the world. He learned the fine arts of storytelling and dance from his Malawian culture spending many long days and nights listening to stories and dancing to music that captivated his mind, shaped his being, nourished his soul and strengthened his spirit. Using performing arts Masankho motivates and inspires people of all ages to work together to bring about peace, social justice and cultural understanding. In 1997, he started UCanDanc? African Healing Arts to bring his passion for dance and storytelling to communities around the world. Masankho has been a Certified InterPlay Leader since 1999.
