Going Deeper with Storytelling

Your body is a library full of stories! Come and learn how to embody your stories in fun and easily accessible modalities! Masankho will guide you on how and when to use the body as an essential tool, how you move, and how you use the room. Work with full body movements to develop character and foster a personal warm-up routine. Movement also inspires improvisation. During this 6 week online course we will play with the popular storytelling forms:
Session 1 - DT1's and DT 3's
Session 2 - Big Body Stories
Session 3 - Side by Side Stories
Session 4 - Gesture Choir
Session 5 - Stories with instruments and music
Session 6 - Putting it all together
We will play with building story from a single word or phrase and also with Cultural and other themes. There will be large group and small group formats so that you can have plenty of opportunities to practice what you learn. Sign up for the whole series or come for the session or sessions that most interest you.
Cost: $249 one time payment for whole series or pay $42 each for the session(s) that interest you (no one turned away, pay what you can)

Masankho is a multi - disciplinary Performing Artist, Certified InterPlay Leader, Educator and PeaceBuilder. He brings many unique perspectives to his work around the world. He learned the fine arts of storytelling and dance from his Malawian culture spending many long days and nights listening to stories and dancing to music that captivated his mind, shaped his being, nourished his soul and strengthened his spirit. Using performing arts Masankho motivates and inspires people of all ages to work together to bring about peace, social justice and cultural understanding. In 1997, he started UCanDanc—African Healing Arts to bring his passion for dance and storytelling to communities around the world. Masankho has been a Certified InterPlay Leader since 1999.
